Who just raised → who's hiring

European hard tech, the last week. Defense and physical AI led the table again — a maritime-defence unicorn, aircraft propulsion, and robots that lay bricks and pick fruit. Here are the Series A and up rounds across European deep tech and hard tech from the past seven days, and who's about to hire, with a careers link for each. Figures as reported — verify on each company's site.

🚨 Just in

Kraken Technology — $175M Series B

Portsmouth, UK · Maritime Defense · 9 Jul · $1B valuation — Europe's newest maritime-defence unicorn (DTCP led; British Business Bank, NATO Innovation Fund, Rheinmetall)

Uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) built for contested waters — Kraken has gone from three staff to nearly 200 and is delivering 20 USVs to the Royal Navy. Turning a unicorn valuation into hulls in the water means a hiring wave: naval architects, systems-integration and embedded-software engineers, production and industrialisation leads, programme managers and defence business development. → Careers

The week's biggest rounds

Greenjets — €35M Series A

London, UK · Aerospace / Propulsion · 16 Jul · Blossom Capital led; NATO Innovation Fund, NSSIF

Patented ducted-fan and turbofan propulsion for drones and next-generation electric aircraft — quieter, safer, easier to certify. Expanding from 160 to 250+ people and moving from development into production. Likely hiring: propulsion and aerospace engineers, certification/airworthiness leads, manufacturing and production managers, supply-chain, defence sales. → Careers

Monumental — $32M Series B

Amsterdam, Netherlands · Robotics · 15 Jul · Khosla Ventures led; Plural, Hummingbird

Autonomous bricklaying robots — a 150+ fleet sold as an outcome-based construction service (contractors pay for finished walls, not machines). Scaling across Europe and into the US. Likely hiring: robotics and autonomy engineers, hardware engineers, computer-vision/ML, deployment and operations leads, US commercial roles. → Careers

e-peas — €19.2M

Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium · Semiconductors · 9 Jul · Crédit Mutuel Innovation led; SFPI

Fabless ultra-low-power chips — energy-harvesting power-management ICs, microcontrollers and image sensors for battery-free IoT. Scaling commercial growth into new markets. Likely hiring: analog/mixed-signal IC designers, field application engineers, product marketing, international sales leads. → Careers

Stenon — €18M Series B

Potsdam, Germany · Ag deep tech / Sensing · 8 Jul

Real-time digital soil analysis — spectroscopy plus AI that replaces slow lab tests with field-side readings. Expanding globally. Likely hiring: sensor, hardware and spectroscopy engineers, data-science/ML leads, field agronomy specialists, commercial and country managers. → Careers

Series A breakouts to watch

QuantumDiamonds — €15M equity

Munich, Germany · Quantum / Semiconductors · 8 Jul · €15M equity within a ~€91M EU-backed package

NV-diamond quantum sensing for chip inspection and failure analysis, building a Munich production facility and roughly doubling its engineering team. Likely hiring: quantum-sensing and physics engineers, hardware/systems engineers, applications engineers for semiconductor customers, production leads. → Careers

Dogtooth Technologies — £14M

Cambridge, UK · Robotics · 8 Jul

Autonomous soft-fruit harvesting robots — strawberry and raspberry picking to tackle farm-labour shortages. Scaling its fleet after fresh investment. Likely hiring: robotics and manufacturing leads, computer-vision and ML engineers, production/assembly technicians, field-support engineers. → Careers

CurifyLabs — €12M Series A

Helsinki, Finland · Bio / Medtech · 6 Jul

On-site 3D printing of personalised medicine — machines plus software that let pharmacies compound tailored doses, already live across 21 US states and Europe. Likely hiring: pharmaceutical scientists, hardware/mechatronics engineers, regulatory and quality leads for US expansion, commercial roles. → Careers

The pattern

The UK sat at the top of the table this week — Kraken's unicorn round, Greenjets' propulsion Series A and Dogtooth's robotics raise — with the Netherlands (Monumental), Germany (Stenon, QuantumDiamonds), Belgium (e-peas) and Finland (CurifyLabs) filling out a week defined by hardware you can touch: uncrewed vessels, aircraft engines, bricklaying and fruit-picking robots, energy-harvesting chips, quantum sensors and 3D-printed medicine. Defense and NATO-linked capital keeps showing up (Kraken, Greenjets), and the through-line holds — money in, now the race to industrialise, which is a manufacturing, systems-engineering and commercial-leadership hiring problem long before it's an R&D one.
